Artist Award for Photography – C.W. Banfield
C.W. Banfield is a large format photographer who creates outstanding photographic images of nature. His traditional approach emphasizes the importance of capturing a great image on transparency film instead of creating one in the computer. "I believe that the most important decisions that a photographer makes are in the field rather than in the darkroom or in the computer. I therefore eschew color enhancing filters, as well as digital manipulation, and use only a minimal number of color correcting … [Read More...]

Artist Award for Painting – Faye F. Vander Veer
"Painting is a language I use to express my reaction to things I see in everyday life and share my experience of the subject with others." ArtQuiver.com describes Faye's paintings as "mostly “narrative”, enticing the viewer to wonder about the figures depicted in her work. Recently she has been inspired by her trips to Europe and has painted many European cafes and street scenes. She thinks of her paintings as little vignettes; each one has its own story to tell, and it is up to her to tell … [Read More...]

Each piece is handbuilt, uniquely fluid and sculptural, fired to cone 6 - one of a kind. The object shown here is white stoneware clay, handbuilt, glazed with multiple overlapping glazes, stained glass in the center. "My work is about experimentation, always in the moment, a joining of thought and action...reflects the whimsical … [Read More...]
